Polytetraflouroethylene (TFE) and Kynar - PVDF are both in short supply.

PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene  product PTFE (TFE) and also Kynar-PVDF  manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar which is mined in Mongolia and China. The worldwide interest in this mineral has increased significantly, and also the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and really low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is utilised throughout a lot of applications from non-stick fry pots and pans to ptfe tape for home use. This specific mineral is a important raw materials within the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and many refrigerants. This increasing amount of demand bundled with shortage of raw materials is responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double within the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to keep at it in the near future.
